Crash games are fast casino games built around a simple decision: collect the current payout or continue and risk losing the stake.
In titles such as Aviator, JetX, Spaceman, High Flyer and Big Bass Crash, a multiplier rises while an aircraft, character or object continues moving. The round can end at any moment. A player who cashes out before that point receives the stake multiplied by the displayed value. A player who has not cashed out when the round ends normally loses the active stake.
Other products use the same risk-and-cashout principle without displaying one continuously rising curve. Chicken Road increases the multiplier after each successful step. Mines allows the player to reveal safe cells before collecting. Plinko resolves the result when a disc reaches a multiplier position. Balloon may use either a continuous or staged flight mechanic, depending on the provider and exact version.
The central point of this guide is:
Choosing when to cash out can change the frequency and size of wins, but it does not remove the mathematical house advantage built into the game.
A low cashout target generally creates more frequent small returns and fewer large wins. A high target produces fewer successful rounds but larger potential payouts. In a standard mathematical model, neither approach turns a negative-expectation game into a positive-expectation one.

A folder name alone may not uniquely identify a product. This is particularly important for Balloon: SPRIBE and SmartSoft Gaming both list separate products called Balloon. The exact provider must be confirmed before publishing RTP or feature information.
What Is a Crash Game?
In the narrow sense, a crash game has four stages:
- The player places a stake before the round begins.
- A displayed multiplier starts at or near 1.00×.
- The multiplier increases until a randomly determined stopping point.
- The player must cash out before that stopping point.
The payout is:
Payout = stake × cashout multiplier
The net result is:
Net result = payout − stake
For example, if a player stakes ₽1,000 and successfully cashes out at 1.50×:
Payout = ₽1,000 × 1.50 = ₽1,500
Net result = ₽1,500 − ₽1,000 = ₽500
If the round crashes before the cashout request is accepted:
Payout = ₽0
Net result = ₽0 − ₽1,000 = −₽1,000
The multiplier is not a balance or guaranteed prize. It is a conditional payout value that only applies if the cashout is completed before the round ends.
Are Mines and Plinko Really Crash Games?
Not in the strict mechanical sense.
SPRIBE classifies Mines and Plinko as mini games rather than as continuous-curve crash games. Mines uses a reveal-and-cashout structure, while Plinko produces a multiplier after a disc travels through a peg board. Both can nevertheless appear in casino sections labelled “Crash Games”, “Instant Games” or “Originals” because they share several characteristics with crash products:
- short rounds
- multiplier-based payouts
- limited rules
- rapid repeat play
- adjustable risk
- instant or early cashout decisions
- compact mobile interfaces.
A shared RTP does not make their result distributions identical.
The broad “Crash Games” category on this page is therefore an editorial grouping. It should not be interpreted as a claim that every listed product uses one continuous multiplier curve.
How the Crash Point Is Determined
In a regulated RNG implementation, the ending multiplier is generated according to the game’s mathematical rules. The animation normally reveals or represents the result; it does not create a new probability because the aircraft appears to fly smoothly or the character seems close to another stage.
Regulated technical standards generally require random results to be unpredictable and prohibit adaptive behaviour that changes probabilities in response to previous play. Rules explaining how the game works and the likelihood of winning should also be available before the customer commits to gamble. Jurisdictions use different technical and disclosure requirements, so the relevant local rules must be checked.
This means that, in a properly implemented independent model:
- a sequence of low multipliers does not make a high multiplier due
- a recent 100× result does not make the next round less capable of producing another high result
- another player’s cashout does not normally change your underlying crash point
- changing the stake does not cause the game to compensate for earlier losses
- the animation speed does not reveal the hidden final multiplier.
The exact calculation may differ between providers. It should not be assumed that every crash game uses the same formula, rounding method, minimum result or maximum multiplier.
RTP and House Edge in Crash Games
Return to player, or RTP, is the theoretical percentage of total stakes returned as prizes over the complete mathematical model.
The house edge is:
House edge = 100% − RTP
For a game with a 97% RTP:
House edge = 100% − 97% = 3%
The expected theoretical cost is:
Expected theoretical cost = turnover × house edge
Worked Example 1: Theoretical Cost
Assume:
- total turnover: ₽10,000
- theoretical RTP: 97%
- house edge: 3%.
Calculation:
₽10,000 × 3% = ₽300 theoretical cost
The theoretical returned amount is:
₽10,000 × 97% = ₽9,700
This does not mean that the player will finish with exactly ₽9,700. An individual result can be much higher or lower.
Worked Example 2: Turnover Is Not the Deposit
Assume a player deposits ₽5,000 and makes 200 rounds at ₽100 each.
Turnover = 200 × ₽100 = ₽20,000
At a 97% RTP:
Expected theoretical cost = ₽20,000 × 3% = ₽600
The calculation is based on ₽20,000 of turnover, not the original ₽5,000 deposit. Money returned by earlier rounds can be wagered again, so total stakes can exceed the amount initially deposited.
Worked Example 3: Faster Play Creates More Exposure
Assume the stake remains ₽50.

A small individual stake does not necessarily mean low total exposure. Round speed and session length can matter more than the amount committed to one round.
A Simplified Mathematical Model of Crash Multipliers
Some standard crash models can be approximated using:
Probability of reaching multiplier M ≈ RTP ÷ M
This formula is useful for explaining the relationship between payout size and probability. It is not a universal formula for every game.
A real implementation may also include:
- rounding
- instant-crash outcomes
- maximum multipliers
- separate game configurations
- operator limits
- partial cashout
- jackpot or promotional elements
- different probability algorithms.
Assume an illustrative crash game with a 97% RTP.

The table illustrates the basic trade-off: larger target multipliers must occur less frequently.
It does not represent a prediction of the next round and should not replace the paytable of the actual game.
Does the Cashout Target Change the RTP?
In a simplified standard crash model, it changes variance but not expected return.
Worked Example 4: Cashing Out at 2×
Assume:
- stake: ₽100
- target: 2×
- probability of success: 48.5%.
Expected gross payout:
₽100 × 2 × 48.5% = ₽97
Expected net result:
₽97 − ₽100 = −₽3
The expected return is 97% of the stake.
Worked Example 5: Cashing Out at 10×
Using the same simplified model:
- stake: ₽100
- target: 10×
- probability of success: 9.7%.
Expected gross payout:
₽100 × 10 × 9.7% = ₽97
Expected net result:
₽97 − ₽100 = −₽3
The expected value remains the same, but the pattern changes:
- at 2×, successful rounds are more frequent
- at 10×, successful rounds are much less frequent
- the 10× target produces longer losing sequences and occasional larger payouts.
This is why no cashout target can be called mathematically “best” without first defining the objective. A lower target may reduce short-term fluctuation, while a higher target increases volatility. Neither removes the house edge in this simplified example.
Why a 1.01× Cashout Is Not Risk-Free
A common misconception is that setting auto cashout at 1.01× creates an almost guaranteed return.
It does not.
Some games permit the round to end at 1.00× or another very low multiplier. SmartSoft’s official JetX information states that an explosion can occur as early as 1.00×. JetX also offers manual and automatic cashout and can allow two independent bets per round.
Using the simplified 97% model:
Probability of reaching 1.01× ≈ 97% ÷ 1.01 = 96.04%
The theoretical failure rate would therefore be approximately:
100% − 96.04% = 3.96%
A player may receive many small gains and then lose an entire stake during an early crash. The higher frequency of successful cashouts can disguise the fact that each winning round produces only a small net gain.
At a ₽1,000 stake and a 1.01× cashout:
Payout = ₽1,010
Net profit = ₽10
One failed round loses ₽1,000, which would cancel the net profits from 100 successful 1.01× cashouts.
The exact probabilities depend on the actual game model, but the economic principle remains the same.
Manual Cashout and Auto Cashout
A manual cashout requires the player to press the button during the round. An auto-cashout threshold is selected before the round begins and is intended to collect automatically when the multiplier reaches that value.
Auto cashout can reduce variation caused by hesitation or reaction time. It does not change the underlying probability that the multiplier will reach the selected target.
A cashout may fail when:
- the crash point is below the selected target
- the round ends before the manual request reaches the server
- the target is invalid under the game rules
- the stake was not accepted
- the connection is interrupted
- the player interface displays information after the authoritative server event
- operator or game limits apply.
The rules should explain how interrupted rounds and disputed cashouts are handled. The visual position of the aircraft at the moment a button is pressed may not be the only evidence used to settle a dispute.
Partial and 50% Cashout
Spaceman and Big Bass Crash include a 50% cashout option. This lets the player collect the current multiplier for half of the stake while leaving the other half active.
Worked Example 6: Partial Cashout
Assume:
- total stake: ₽1,000
- half is cashed out at 2×
- the remaining half continues.
The cashed-out portion is:
₽500 × 2 = ₽1,000 payout
If the remaining ₽500 portion later crashes, the total payout is ₽1,000.
Net result:
₽1,000 − ₽1,000 original stake = ₽0
If the second half reaches 5×:
Second payout = ₽500 × 5 = ₽2,500
Total payout:
₽1,000 + ₽2,500 = ₽3,500
Net result:
₽3,500 − ₽1,000 = ₽2,500
Partial cashout changes the distribution of the result. It can secure value from part of the stake while keeping the rest exposed, but it does not prove that the total expected return is higher.
Why Previous Multipliers Do Not Predict the Next Round
Many crash interfaces display:
- recent crash points
- multiplier frequency charts
- the last 100 or 500 rounds
- largest wins
- current player bets
- leaderboards.
These records can confirm what happened. They do not establish what must happen next.
The following reasoning is incorrect:
“There have been ten low rounds, so the next multiplier should be high.”
If rounds are independent, the probability distribution of the next result does not change merely because the previous sequence looks unusual.
The reverse belief is also incorrect:
“A 100× result just appeared, so another high result cannot happen soon.”
Independent randomness can create clusters, repetitions and long sequences. A pattern does not have to alternate between low and high values.
Provably Fair Does Not Mean Predictable
A provably fair system uses cryptographic information to let users check that a result was generated from committed data rather than secretly replaced after the round.
A typical verification process may involve:
- A hidden server seed is created.
- A hash of that seed is published before the round.
- One or more client seeds or round values are included.
- The game uses a documented hash calculation.
- The original server value is later revealed.
- The player checks that the original commitment and final result match.
Provably fair technology can help answer:
- Was the committed server seed changed?
- Were the displayed seed values used?
- Does the documented calculation reproduce the result?
- Can the round be independently checked?
It does not answer:
- Will the next multiplier be high?
- Is the game profitable?
- Is the operator licensed in the player’s location?
- Is the advertised RTP the active RTP?
- Will a withdrawal be processed correctly?
- Is every displayed casino copy authentic?
A cryptographically verifiable negative-expectation game remains a negative-expectation game.
Main Crash Game Formats
Continuous Multiplier Games
These games show one multiplier increasing until a crash:
The theme can involve an aircraft, astronaut, fishing line or another moving object. The mathematical principle is broadly similar, although maximum multipliers, RTP values, cashout features and result-generation procedures can differ.
Step-Based Games
Chicken Road does not require the player to wait for one continuously rising curve. The player advances through stages, with the displayed multiplier increasing after safe steps.
This format still uses the same economic choice:
- collect the current amount
- or risk it for the next stage.
The probability of completing each step may differ by difficulty level and position. The multiplier alone does not reveal the success probability.
Grid-Reveal Games
Mines hides safe symbols and mines across a grid. Each safe reveal increases the available payout, while selecting a mine normally loses the active stake.
The player chooses how long to continue, but the locations are governed by the game’s random model.
Drop-and-Resolve Games
Plinko does not require an in-round cashout decision in the same way as Aviator or JetX. A disc passes through a board and lands in a multiplier position.
The player may be able to adjust:
- the number of rows or pins
- risk level
- disc type
- autoplay settings.
The return depends on the probability of reaching each position and the corresponding multiplier.
Aviator
Aviator is a multiplayer crash game developed by SPRIBE. Its official page describes an increasing curve that can end at any moment. Players must cash out before the aircraft leaves. The provider lists a theoretical RTP of 97% and includes chat, live bets and statistical information.
Important points to verify include:
- the active RTP
- whether two betting positions are available
- minimum and maximum stake
- cashout request rules
- auto-cashout limits
- provably fair seed information
- maximum multiplier or payout cap
- local availability.
Aviator’s social interface does not turn it into a peer-to-peer competition. Seeing another player’s bet or payout does not normally change the probability of the underlying round.
Balloon
The title Balloon requires special care because more than one provider uses it.
SPRIBE’s Balloon is described as a single-player crash game. Players heat the balloon, can pause its flight and decide whether to continue or cash out. SPRIBE lists an RTP of 97%.
SmartSoft Gaming separately lists Balloon as a crash-style instant game in which the multiplier rises while the balloon inflates and the player must cash out before it pops.
A correct page should therefore identify:
- provider
- exact game title
- version
- game identification number
- RTP
- whether the game is single-player
- whether the balloon can be paused
- maximum multiplier
- cashout rules.
Publishing SPRIBE’s RTP beside a SmartSoft version would mix two separate products.
Big Bass Crash
Big Bass Crash is part of Pragmatic Play’s crash portfolio and uses the fisherman from the provider’s Big Bass slot series.
The multiplier continues while the fishing sequence remains active. The player must cash out before the fisherman loses the catch. The game includes multiplayer chat, leaderboards and a 50% cashout feature that can collect half of the position while leaving the remainder active.
The public provider page describes the mechanics but does not establish that every operator version uses one universal RTP. The active value should be read from the information panel of the loaded game.
Chicken Road
Chicken Road is a single-player step-based game from InOut Games.
The player guides a chicken through successive hazards. Each successful step increases the available multiplier. The player can collect or continue. The official provider page lists four difficulty levels—easy, medium, hard and hardcore—and an RTP of 98%.
Difficulty can affect:
- number of stages
- probability of a safe step
- multiplier progression
- volatility
- maximum theoretical multiplier.
A higher difficulty does not automatically increase expected return. It can simply distribute the same or a similar theoretical return across less frequent, larger potential payouts.
Worked Example 7: One Step in a Step-Based Game
Assume an illustrative stage offers a 1.50× payout and has a 64% success probability.
Expected gross return:
1.50 × 64% = 0.96
Theoretical RTP for that isolated decision:
96%
House edge:
100% − 96% = 4%
If another difficulty offers a larger multiplier, its success probability can be reduced enough to preserve the same house advantage.
The actual Chicken Road stage probabilities must be taken from its documented mathematical model rather than this illustrative example.
High Flyer
High Flyer is a Pragmatic Play multiplayer crash game.
It allows up to two betting positions per round, with manual and automatic cashout. Pragmatic Play advertises a maximum multiplier of up to 1,000,000×. Its interface includes previous-round details, multiplier statistics, a leaderboard and optional chat.
The 1,000,000× figure is a maximum, not an indication that extremely high multipliers occur regularly.
Before describing High Flyer, verify:
- active RTP
- maximum cash payout
- relationship between multiplier cap and monetary cap
- two-bet rules
- auto-cashout behaviour
- accepted stake range
- local version.
JetX
JetX is SmartSoft Gaming’s multiplayer crash game.
The provider states that:
- the multiplier is RNG-based
- two independent bets can be placed
- manual and automatic cashout are available
- an explosion can occur at 1.00×
- the RTP may range from 96.2% to 98.9%, depending on the configuration.
This documented RTP range illustrates why game-level verification matters.
Worked Example 8: Comparing JetX Configurations
Assume ₽100,000 in turnover.
At 98.9% RTP:
House edge = 1.1%
Theoretical cost = ₽100,000 × 1.1% = ₽1,100
At 96.2% RTP:
House edge = 3.8%
Theoretical cost = ₽100,000 × 3.8% = ₽3,800
Difference:
₽3,800 − ₽1,100 = ₽2,700
Both versions can look visually identical while having different long-run theoretical costs.
Mines
SPRIBE’s Mines uses a field containing stars and mines. Each successful star reveal increases the available payout, and the player can cash out after a safe choice. Selecting a mine ends the attempt. The official page lists a 97% RTP.
The main variables are:
- total number of cells
- number of mines
- number of safe cells already revealed
- multiplier after each safe selection
- whether cells are sampled without replacement
- maximum number of reveals
- active RTP.
Mathematical Probability in Mines
Assume:
- 25 total cells
- 3 mines
- 22 safe cells
- 5 cells will be revealed.
The probability that all five are safe is:
P = C(22,5) ÷ C(25,5)
Result:
P ≈ 49.57%
The mathematically fair multiplier before any house edge would be:
Fair multiplier = 1 ÷ 49.57% ≈ 2.018×
If an illustrative product applies a 97% theoretical return:
Indicative paid multiplier = 2.018 × 97% ≈ 1.957×
Actual payout tables can use different grids, mine counts, rounding rules and stage adjustments. The calculation explains the mechanism rather than confirming the exact multiplier table of a particular version.
Plinko
SPRIBE’s Plinko drops a disc through a board of pegs until it lands on a multiplier. Its official page lists a 97% RTP and allows changes to the number of pins or difficulty.
The expected RTP is calculated by combining every possible landing probability with its multiplier:
Expected return = Σ(probability of position × position multiplier)
Worked Example 9: Simplified Plinko Distribution
Assume a hypothetical board has this distribution:

Total expected return:

Increasing the risk setting can move more probability towards very low and very high multipliers while preserving a similar total RTP.
The visible board animation does not prove that the disc follows a real physical process. The official rules should state how the final result is generated.
Spaceman
Spaceman was Pragmatic Play’s first crash-style game. Its multiplier rises as the character travels through space, and the stake is lost if the player does not cash out before the round ends.
The game includes:
- manual cashout
- auto cashout
- 50% cashout
- game history
- leaderboards
- a documented maximum of 5,000×.
The maximum multiplier should not be confused with a typical multiplier or average payout.

The absence of an RTP figure from a public marketing page does not prove that the information is unavailable inside the game or certification documents. It means the figure should not be silently copied from a third-party review and presented as officially confirmed.
Maximum Multiplier and Maximum Payout
These terms can describe different limits.
A maximum multiplier limits the payout relative to the stake.
A maximum monetary payout limits the amount paid regardless of the displayed multiplier.
Assume:
- stake: ₽100
- multiplier: 10,000×
- game monetary cap: ₽500,000.
The multiplier calculation gives:
₽100 × 10,000 = ₽1,000,000
But if the rules impose a ₽500,000 monetary cap, the actual payable amount may be limited to ₽500,000.
The player must check:
- maximum multiplier
- maximum monetary win
- maximum stake eligible for the full multiplier
- operator-level payout limits
- whether the round stops when the cap is reached
- treatment of two simultaneous bets
- treatment of partial cashouts.
A headline maximum does not provide the probability of reaching it.
The Difference Between RTP and Actual Results
Theoretical RTP belongs to the mathematical model.
Actual RTP is calculated from observed stakes and payouts:
Actual RTP = total prizes ÷ total turnover × 100%
Worked Example 10: Short-Term Actual RTP
Session A:
- total stakes: ₽50,000
- payouts: ₽62,500.
Actual RTP = ₽62,500 ÷ ₽50,000 × 100% = 125%
Session B:
- total stakes: ₽50,000
- payouts: ₽20,000.
Actual RTP = ₽20,000 ÷ ₽50,000 × 100% = 40%
Neither result proves that the theoretical model has changed.
Crash products can show particularly wide short-term variation because a large part of the return may be associated with uncommon high multipliers.
Volatility in Crash Games
Volatility describes how unevenly outcomes are distributed.
A low cashout target generally produces:
- more successful rounds
- smaller net gains per successful round
- fewer extreme payouts
- occasional losses that can erase many small gains.
A high cashout target generally produces:
- fewer successful rounds
- larger potential payouts
- longer losing sequences
- greater short-term variation.
For Mines, volatility can increase when more mines are selected or more cells are revealed before cashing out.
For Plinko, a higher-risk mode may assign more probability to low multipliers and rare high multipliers.
For Chicken Road, a harder difficulty may increase multiplier growth while reducing the probability of completing each stage.
Higher volatility is not the same as lower RTP. Two products can have the same theoretical return while producing very different playing patterns.
Multiplayer Features Do Not Create Shared Odds
Aviator, JetX, High Flyer, Big Bass Crash and Spaceman can display other players’ stakes and cashouts.
This can create the impression that successful players have identified a useful pattern. That conclusion is not justified.
Another player may:
- have selected a different cashout target
- be using a different stake
- have placed two bets
- be receiving a promotional free bet
- have already lost in previous rounds
- be taking greater short-term risk
- be shown in a leaderboard because only unusual results are highlighted.
Public bet information does not reveal the player’s complete financial result.
Chat and leaderboards are social features, not evidence that following another account changes the expected value.
Two Bets Do Not Cancel the House Edge
Some crash games permit two independent bets in the same round.
A player might set:
- Bet A to cash out at 1.50×
- Bet B to cash out at 10×.
This creates two different exposures to the same crash point.
Assume each stake is ₽500.
If the round ends at 1.40×:
- Bet A loses
- Bet B loses
- total result: −₽1,000.
If it reaches 2× but not 10×:
- Bet A pays ₽750
- Bet B loses
- total payout: ₽750
- total stake: ₽1,000
- net result: −₽250.
